“Show Me The Money!”
On AllThingsD yesterday, Walt Mossberg had a very good article about why you can find almost all of Google’s apps on Apple’s iOS as well as its own Android, but no Apple apps on Android, or on Windows Phone or … Continue reading “Show Me The Money!”
Free App Friday: Angry Birds
For our first “Free App Friday” here, I’ve got a great deal on one of, if not THE, best selling iOS games of all time, Angry Birds. For most, this game needs no introduction. So, suffice it to say that … Continue reading Free App Friday: Angry Birds

UPDATED (see below) February 26, 2013 It’s time for Steve’s (first) Daily iDeal, where I alert all those I can think of who have an iDevice (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or even an iMac or other Mac) to a great deal in iOS or OS X software. Today’s deal is on SplashID Safe by SplashData, a great password manager to help you remember all those account names, user ids, passwords, access codes, and even PINs. A Shift at Apple: Market Share versus Profits
OPINION: I’m afraid I couldn’t just stay silent about AAPL’s unprecedented slide today after reporting record revenue, profits and earnings. After digesting it and reading a number or analyses, some insightful, some idiotic, I believe I’ve discerned a possibility as … Continue reading A Shift at Apple: Market Share versus Profits
Review: Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover
I haven’t done a hardware review yet, so let’s give it a shot. Here’s my relatively quick review of the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover. I have been eyeing one for some time now and just picked it up at Costco … Continue reading Review: Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover
Here comes something little…
Well, on Tuesday, October 16, Apple made it official. They will be holding a special media event to show “a little more”. Presumably, after all the speculation and rumors, this will be the debut of the iPad mini, or whatever it will be called. The “little” in the invite text would seem to hint at the iPad mini name. I was, and still am, hoping for the resurrection of the iBook name. Either way, this should be a more than respectable entry into the sub-8″ tablet market providing the likes of the Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD, and Nook HD … Continue reading Here comes something little…
It’s Almost Here
Today is September 11, 2012. That is an important date on which to take a moment, forget about iPads and such, and remember those who lost their lives on that horrific day now 11 years past. As a resident of the National Capital area, I can say that I shall never forget that day. With that in mind, it almost seems wrong that I should move on to the topic not of today, but of tomorrow, September 12, 2012. But, it must be done, sorry. And that IS going to be a day where it will be very hard to … Continue reading It’s Almost Here
The Real Reason for an iPad Mini
The real reason for an iPad mini: Kids and Education. I’ve been thinking along these lines for a couple of months now. Anyone who’s ever watched a five-year-old kid handle and drop a full-size iPad knows why a smaller iPad would be a great thing for kids. As a plus, their hands are already smaller, so they won’t need sandpaper as Steve Jobs once jibed. Indeed, education is becoming a very big thing for Apple these days, so a cheaper and smaller iPad makes a lot of sense in that realm. Remember, Apple made a big push into digital textbooks … Continue reading The Real Reason for an iPad Mini
How To: Get Files Off iPad
One thing that many new users of an iPad have asked me is how do they get the documents, photos, and other items they create on their iPads (yes Virginia, the iPad is for “content creation”) and onto their PCs/Macs … Continue reading How To: Get Files Off iPad
Hello world!
Welcome to “Steve Says iPad” on WordPress.com! This is the first post to get the blog started. Over the last couple years, Jennifer and I have helped a number of family and friends join us in the wonderful world of iPad use (and watched other friends and family take it up all on their own). Some of those have occasionally turned to me with questions about using an iPad, and I’ve always tried to do my best to help. Now I’m going to make this new blog the central repository for my thoughts on some tips and tricks for using the … Continue reading Hello world!
